Cameron Saint
Cameron Saint is a composer and double bassist based in London. The founding member of ‘The Mingus Project’, an 8-piece group committed to continuing the performance and legacy of Charles Mingus’ music, he took this band on a UK tour in 2023 to support the release of their debut album ‘Live at the Flute and Tankard’. In 2025, he was honoured to receive the prestigious Anjool Maldé Jazz Prize – an award given to people ‘among the UK’s top young talents’.
Cameron was born in Rugby and started off playing classical guitar. After the switch to electric bass and then double bass, he moved to Cardiff and studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. In his short career he has played with the likes of: Iain Ballamy, Alan Barnes, Huw Warren, Elliot Galvin, Alex Merritt and Mark Fletcher. He has also performed at prestigious venues such as: The 606 Club, Scott’s Jazz Club, the Flute and Tankard, Swansea Jazz Club, the Cardiff Millennium Centre and the Brecon Jazz Festival.
Cameron has recently recorded with Andrew Rumsey on his second and third albums, ‘Collodion’ and ‘Blank Arcades’, both well received in the folk music communities. He also recently went on a 5-date tour of England and Wales with guitarists Tom Remon and Barry McCormack (IE) and drummer Mark Fletcher.
Whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Cameron has also taken on a teaching assistant role at the Junior Royal Academy of Music, helping teach the next generation of jazz musicians.
